Methodologies and paradigms for the immersive design
The project aims at studying, developing and validating with the users new design paradigms based on the idea of a user immersed in the virtual environment, so as to overcome the constraints related to the interaction modalities of the current environment, which are nowadays used for the design and the analysis.
Development of a multisensory environment for immersive and collaborative design supported by a GRID platform
The project foresees the development of an immersive design environment equipped with multisensory interaction devices (replicating sight, touch, voice and hearing) and validated through case studies conceived for the automotive field. The high-performance GRID platform has to guarantee the physics-based characterization of the virtual prototype and to permit the collaboration among several users.
Development of haptic devices for geometric modelling, digital mock-up and ergonomic evaluation
The aim is to develop ‘ad-hoc’ haptic devices allowing the free-hand geometric modelling, the execution of digital mock-up tasks and ergonomics analysis. The architecture and performances of such devices will be targeted to the implementation of the case studies.
4. Scientific publications and dissemination
The scientific results of the research activities will be published on international and national journals and on conference proceedings. They will be presented and disseminated to the scientific community as well as to a wider public through press releases.
