The developed platform is based on innovative systems, which have been specifically developed by integrating state-of-the-art techniques and technologies in the context of virtual prototyping, multisensory interaction, collaborative environment and parallel computing.
The platform has been completely developed and subsequently it has been validated in different testing sessions.
In particular, the platform is made up of three, integrated sub-systems, which allow analysing ergonomic and functional aspects of the car interior.
The three sub-systems are:
• 3D Haptic Modeler (3DHM)
• Mixed Reality Seating Buck (MRSB)
• Parallel Computing Center (PCC)The first two systems allow us to modify and validate some elements of the car interior, such as air-conditioning knobs, a-beam and air vents. Thanks to these two systems, the validation and the product-modification phases can occur simultaneously, thereby noticeably reducing the time devoted to the design, development and validation of new design solutions. The promptness of the validation and modification phases is possible thanks to the two above-mentioned systems, which allow both a rapid and intuitive modification of the analyzed object (3DHM) and the reproduction, in real time, of a dynamic, self-configurable environment for the product validation (MRSB).
