Virtual Prototyping Lab - VPLab

Location

The Virtual Lab is located at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Politecnico di Milano, at the new building in via La Masa 1.

Research Activities

The lab is organised in two adjoining spaces, where the following research activities are performed:

- Development and use of multisensory virtual prototypes for testing purposes
- Deformable object simulation on massively parallel computer
- Use of real-time rendering tools on high performance workstation

Educational resources

It is a workplace equipped with 10 workstations equipped with NVIDIA Quadro boards. Each workstation has several professional software applications for Virtual Prototyping, and among them the RTT Deltagen, 3DVIA Virtools, H3DAPI. Thanks to these high-performance tools, students can learn rapid prototyping techniques for developing and testing products in fully virtual environments.
